The Division of Agriculture’s Agricultural Advertising and marketing Service has issued a remaining rule amending its rules to strengthen oversight and enforcement of the manufacturing, dealing with, and sale of natural agricultural merchandise. Compliance with this rule, which AMS chief Jenny Lester Moffitt known as “the most important replace to the natural rules because the authentic act in 1990,” can be required starting March 19, 2024.
An AMS press launch states that this rule “protects natural integrity and bolsters farmer and shopper confidence within the USDA natural seal by supporting robust natural management techniques, bettering farm to market traceability, growing import oversight authority, and offering sturdy enforcement of the natural rules.” Key updates embrace the next.
– increasing the requirement for Nationwide Natural Program import certificates to all natural merchandise imported into the U.S.
– requiring certification of extra of the companies at vital hyperlinks in natural provide chains (although customs brokers and logistics brokers can be exempt except they promote, import, or commerce natural merchandise)
